Professional qualifications: I attended Seattle Pacific University where I earned a B. A. Degree in Psychology, and a M.S. Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. I'm also a, Certified Sex Addiction Therapist, (CSAT) by International Institute for Trauma and Addiction Professionals, (IITAP). I'm a Certified Attachment Focused Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing Therapist (EMDR-Therapy) by the EMDR International Association, (EMDRIA) and licensed in Washington state as a Marriage and Family Therapist, LF 60006062.
I view people from the perspective that family relational dynamics shape and influence their lives. If you or another family member make changes, those changes will have an affect on other members, much the way that if one object on a mobile is pulled all the other objects will shift. Therefore, if you choose to better yourself as an individual or as a couple, it will be reflected in your family and intimate relationships. There is hope for change, and you can be the person that begins the process in your world.
Style and values: One of my core beliefs is that there is a Solution; you don't have to stay stuck in your problems, you can separate from your problems and grow emotionally and spiritually by learning to do life differently. Often getting an informed objective perspective can help you make choices that promote emotional health and well-being.
My therapeutic style is a balance of compassion and reality. I am relationally oriented. Individuals are wounded in relationships. Paradoxically, much of their healing will happen through relationship dynamics. If you are seeking a counselor/coach that will nod in agreement to all of your complaints about life and others, I'm not the person you want. Instead, I hope to open your understanding to new ideas and tools that will bring about transfromation in your own life.
